Notes: This is my updated grove guide, since i first posted this guide i have learnt a lot more about how to play grove and in this updated version ill go over the changes i have made. as of this update my peak grove elo is 2128, with a 58% win rate. So at this point i feel like i have a pretty good idea of how to play grove. Keep in mind that this build will probably take a while to get used to especially on waves 5-8, which are very tough waves for Grove b/c it relies on you accurately guessing what your opponent will do. in this guide i will not talk about when you should be buying workers other than the first few waves. It is up to you as the player to judge when you should be buying workers. This is just a guide of what you should be building towards. Lastly keep in mind that this build is weak on waves 13 and 15, so you should tell your team mate this and ensure that as a team you have a way to survive those waves. if you would like to see me play the build live: Wave 1: Start with a Honeyflower 7 blocks from the bottom of the map and 4 workers, Hire your fifth worker as soon as possible during the wave. Wave 2: Buy 2 Buzz, Make sure to send at least 40 mythium of mercs during wave 2, do not buy a worker if you get sent on wave 2. This will usually leak to a DT (if you are blessed by the RNG gods it will not leak). Wave 3: Buy a Wileshroom. This will hold a 60 send. if you receive at least a 40 send here buy one worker. Wave 4: Buy a Consort. This will hold a 80 send. if you receive at least a 40 send here buy one worker. Wave 5: Buy 3 Buzz and a Ranger. this will hold an 100 send. Wave 6: This is the wave where the build can go one of two different ways. if you received a send on wave 5 DO NOT build anything here, you need to shift gold to get a Banana Bunk on wave 7. not building anything will hold a 40 send, sometimes a 60 send. if you did not get sent on wave 5 build a Canopie, this will hold a 160 send (if you cant afford the Canopie get a Wileshroom under the Honeyflower and as many Buzz as you can get) Only build this if you did not get sent on wave 5: Wave 7: Now at this point depending on what you did on wave 6 one of two things will happen: first, if you got sent on wave 5 and saved your gold through wave 6 you should now buy a Banana Bunk. This will hold a 180 send. Second, if you got sent on wave 6 do not buy anything here you now need to save your gold to get a Banana Bunk on wave 8. not building anything will hold a 40 send, sometimes a 60 send. Wave 8: This is where the outcomes i talked about previously meet up. if you saved gold through wave 7 you should now buy a Banana Bunk. This will hold a 240 send. if you already have a Banana bunk b/c you got it on wave 7 you don't need to build here. You will hold a 160 send, if you are expecting a larger send than that you can build a couple Rangers like shown below. Wave 9: here you can buy an Antler, 2 Buzz, and 1 Ranger this will hold a 180 send. If you are expecting a larger send build more rangers. If you don't expect a send just get the Antler and nothing else. Wave 10: For wave 10 make sure to have 5 rangers. This can hold a 200 send. Buy a Daphne if you expect a larger send. Wave 11: Here just Buy 1 Deathcap. If you are expecting a large send get a Banana Haven. Wave 12: Now buy a Whitemane. at this point you are mostly setting up for a send on wave 13 which is a very weak wave for this build. Wave 13: This is one of the weaker waves for this build so you should plan to be over value for wave 13. Buy a Daphne, 2 Canopie, and 1 Buzz. its very important that you get the Buzz as it will pull the 4eye into the split. This will hold a 300 send. If you are expecting a larger send buy more Daphne. Wave 14: If you expect a send on 14 buy a Canopie and a Daphne as shown bellow, if you do not expect a send just buy a Daphne. Wave 15: At this point you need to sell that Buzz on the right side that you built on wave 13. So this is groves worst wave you will almost always leak this wave unless you are way overvalue, but if you want to have a small chance build 2 Buzz, 2 rangers, 1 Daphne, and 1 Deathcap. I know its alot but you will need at least this just to hold a shaman send. Wave 16: From now on i am going to show you very generally what you would want on each of these waves, what you end up building on waves 16-20 can vary alot depending on your game. Build 1 Deathcap. this can hold a 520 send. If you expect a larger send buy more Deathcaps or Daphne. Wave 17: This build is actually very strong on this wave all you need is 1 Banana Haven, 1 Daphne, and a Buzz at the top of the map as shown. Putting the Buzz there will increase the amount of units that attack the Banana Haven. DO NOT build the banana haven if you expect a wave 18 send (basically if you receive a large send on wave 16 don't build the Banana Haven). Another note; you should never buy workers after this wave. Wave 18: Assuming you didn't build the Banana Haven on wave 17 this is what you would want to hold a wave 18 send. if you have more gold get an Antler or another Deathcap. Wave 19: Make sure to sell the Buzz at the top of the map at this point. Build the Banana Haven if you don't have it already and a Whitemane. if you are expecting a very large send here buy another Banana Haven instead of the Whitemane, but normally you will not get sent here so you are mostly setting up for wave 20. Wave 20: in order to hold a Shaman, Mole, Hermit send on wave 20 you would need something like this. if you have more gold buy more Daphne.
