There are now two new guides in Steam to help new players both are currently works in progress but still contain a lot of good knowlege. Mastermind Synergies Every Unit Explained (T1 complete at this moment of writing) Below the spoiler is the old guide, and the earliest iteration. I've left it there for those just wanting a quick glance. Spoiler Before we start here's a good rule about auras: Those with the same name don't stack (with the exception of Leviathan's aura that stacks twice), and when a unit is upgraded, the aura's name changes with it. For example, you can apply Leech (Butcher's aura) and Cannibalism (Head Chef's aura) to the same unit, and each other. This rule also applies to the following merceneries, Hermit, Safety Mole, and Pack Leader. Sending more than one of each is counterproductive, as their auras won't stack. Butcher/Head Chef + Bananna Haven, Green Devil, Fatalizer, Arctaire, Red Eyes, Doppelganger, Hydra, (Full or Off Tanks with average to fast attacks except to an extent Oath Breaker?) This is also open to interpretation. Alpha Male can also be paired with a Butcher, but if upgraded, Alpha Male may eat the Head Chef. An ideal butcher placement in the above example, would be in the bottom left square so both the Doppelgangers get the aura from the Head Chef, and Butcher. White Mane + King Claw, Doomsday Machine, Green Devil, Antler, Hydra, Kingpin, Fatalizer, Doppelganger, Golem. Dark Mage + Fenix, Nightmare, Berserker (High DPS) Leviathan + Seraphin/Devilfish, Violet, Fenix, Gargoyle, Consort, Peewee, Canopie, Sky Queen, (Flying Units) - Extra Note: Gargoyle's and Peewee's upgrades are not flying. Leviathan also stacks twice, so can place another Leviathan with the Sky Queens so they can get two stacks of Aerial Command. Likewise, in the second example the Tempests can also be upgraded. Starcaller + Violet, Harbringer, Priestess of the Abyss, Hades, Pegasus, Atom, Fenix, Desert Pilgrim, Sky Queen, Hell Gate, (Anything Mana?), - Extra Note: Fenix is an odd one as sometimes you want it's mana to go low for that dps boost. Ocean Templer + Kingclaw, Green Devil (Tanks). Reworked Ocean Templer, makes them more resistant to magic damage, whilst they get a HP regeneration buff. APS/MPS + Fenix, Nightmare, Berserker, Sky Queen, Fire Elemental, Azeria (High DPS). An APS could also be placed in the bottom left square so two Fire Elementals can be buffed both; by the APS, and the MPS. Steed + Bounty Hunter, Hades, Harbringer, Sky Queen, Hell Gate, Atom, Fire Archer, Dark Mage (Mana units like Starcaller). Slightly bigger synergies: Dark Mage + Head Chef + Fenix = High damaging Fenix's that replinish HP quickly. Dark Mage + Head Chef + Fatalizer = Ultimate boss killer and becomes even tankier for waves. Can be set up for wave 10. Whitemane + Head Chef = Extra tanky regenerative units. Alpha Male + Lioness + Hydra, Canopie, Violet, Pegasus, Orchid, Lord of Death (265 Values that work with both) Or if you have no units of that value you can still do this to create 4 buffs for the Lioness without debuffing the Alpha Males. Type Synergies: Tanks: Arcane (Green Devil) + Natural (White Mane) = both cover each others weakness in terms of tankiness. Fortified (Mudman) + Swift (Yozora) = like above, both covers each others defensive weakness. Damage: Dapne (Pierce) + Violet (Impact/Magic) = Covers all three damage types. Honeyflower (Magic) + Masked Spirit (Pierce) = Good AoE coverage, and masks can provide tanking for the Honeyflower. I've added the below in for the legion spells, as these can be very game changing and may warrant you locking in a fighter to best take advantage. Legion Spells: Magician Units that require a lot of mana regeneration, such as Soul Gates, Lord of Death. Sorceror Units that do a lot of ability damage, such as the Elite Archers, Deathcap, Masked Spirits, Aqua Spirits. Pulverizer Units that have a very fast attack speed, such as Doppelganger. Titan Units that you want to tank for longer, such as Banana Bunk. Hero Units that are adjacent to several of your tanks. Guardian Angel Units that generally deal a lot of DPS, or are going to die quick. Doppelgangers, and Fenixes are two prime examples. Vampire Units that are adjacent to more of your DPS so they can lifesteal and survive longer. Even better when paired with Butcher/Head Chef auras. Villian Units with high attack speeds and are generally DPS, such as Doppelgangers. Protector Units that are going to survive the longest to keep the aura. A good example is Priestess of the Abyss. You can also use a Pack Rat and constantly treasure hunt it for the aura to always remain. That's all my brain can at least initially think of without loading up the game and digging it out. I'll update this post though as more comes along.
